Job Overview:
The Divisional Controller will report directly to the VP of Finance and will manage a small but growing accounting group. The successful candidate should be comfortable as a “doer” on day to day accounting and finance operations as we continue to scale up. The Divisional Controller should be experienced in all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, financial consolidation, budgeting and forecasting, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Divisional Controller also performs product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory valuation. This position is responsible for maintaining cost accounting systems. This position is also responsible for performing rate calculations. Reconciles monthly inventory by the categorization of raw material, WIP & finished goods. Key partner in cycle counting process.
Responsibilities:

Solid understanding of ERP systems and how transactions flow and impact the relevant subsidiary ledgers and general ledger.

Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close process and assist with preparation and consolidation of financial statements for multiple entities.

Manage all aspects of the general ledger.

Assist Corporate Controller with the management of all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P.

Assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and periodically report budget to actual variances to internal clients.

Research technical accounting issues for compliance with US GAAP, as needed.

Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Assist with managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies and maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Monthly reporting and analysis including reconciliation of cash, GL to subledger, inventory, etc. as well as variance analysis, and calculation of inventory and AR reserves. Propose necessary journal entries on a monthly basis.

Manage inventory including physical to perpetual to general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, audit explanations, and standard costs.

Audit cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, research of discrepancies, and reports on root causes and progress toward making improvements for greater quantity and physical accuracy.

Coordinate annual financial audit activities.

Provide cost support to business units as requested. Also support bids for new business.

Perform reporting activities throughout the month on margins, absorption and other metrics to ensure accuracy of gross margins.

Work with Corporate Controller to understand performance standards and other metrics in order to drive improvement in operational performance

Provide documentation as needed in support of external audits.

May supervise and/or mentor other members of the accounting staff.

Additional Staff Accounting duties, as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or CMA designation, and/or MBA is required.

5+ years’ experience in financial accounting/cost accounting in a manufacturing environment required.

Proficient with the use of ERP systems (Epicor would be a plus) and ability to pull detail data to support account analysis.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs: Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
